Looking, dwelling, leaving 7th May - 28th June 2024 Consciousness and sensitivity are compromised states. Part and parcel of the comfort of habit is an ignorance of the environments we occupy, move between and pass, enjoying the ease of simplifying the lexicon of the public realm into digestible blocks, like consuming simple carbohydrates. It is in a less comfortable state of indefinite consciousness and sensitivity that Khalid occupies the world, finding, in the remains of society, metaphoric potential. Read more -

The Sky of the Seven Valleys 7th May - 28th June 2024 Clouds take shape where earth’s elements meet the heavenly firmament. Floating through the air like translucent ships navigating the sea of sky above, their condensed liquid mass appears weightless above our terrestrial horizon, suggesting the visual and material limit of our earthbound human perspective underneath infinite fathoms of a celestial vault. Beyond this liminal zone between damp atmosphere and dry space, high clouds skim along the cosmic surface, often shrouding where planetary bodies sit high above. Once a cloud releases its water and returns back down to the telluric surface, the orbiting luminous spheres of the sun, moon, and stars appear. Read more -

Jinchi's inspiration for this series stems from landscapes affected by climate change, such as ghost forests and arid lands. Read more -
Kamran Samimi
Before Nature (I Am Both Created and Destroyed) 11th January - 16th February, 2024 Kamran Samimi's first exhibition with The Third Line – Before Nature (I Am Both Created and Destroyed) – draws inspiration from the land's rich tapestry of natural materials. During his three-week trip to Dubai in the lead up to this exhibition, Samimi harnessed the organic shapes of the UAE's mountains and rocks to produce his paintings titled Translations (2024). He also produced a large stone sculpture titled Unbroken Column (2024) during his time in Dubai, which is installed outdoors in Alserkal Avenue. Delving into the concealed narratives of the UAE's mountainous terrain, Samimi's practice is deeply rooted in a profound sense of place. As he explores the dynamics between human and non-human ancestors, his multicultural identity (Iranian/Norwegian, raised in rural Hawai'i) lends a distinctive perspective to unravelling these connections and conflicts.
