Mosaics of Mirrors
Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian
Editor Rose Issa, 2006
Featuring 143 pages of chiefly color plates and a foreword by Frank Stella, this book presents one of Iran's most inspiring artist Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian, whose distinguished career has spanned more than five decades. Incorporating traditional cut glass and mirror mosaics with a modern sensibility, her sculptures and installations defy easy categorization.
Farmanfarmaian was born in Iran and first left her country in the late 1940s to study art at Parsons School for Design in New York, where she later befriended many of her artist contemporaries, including Andy Warhol, Jackson Pollock, Louise Nevelson and Frank Stella.
